Ho ho ho...it’s finally the holiday season! That means it’s time to get the family together and embrace the Christmas cheer. Although Christmas is a time for celebration, it definitely can get a little overwhelming. Whether you want to get the kids involved in the kitchen or keep them entertained elsewhere, we’ve got you covered! Christmas is a special time of year that brings families and loved ones together. So why not wish those dearest to you a happy holidays with one of these cute Christmas card ideas? Choose from Santa’s best reindeer Rudolph, a merry snowman, a sparkly present, or Santa himself...or try all 4!

Reindeer Christmas card

What you’ll need:

  • Light and dark brown card (A4)
  • White card
  • Craft glue
  • Compass
  • Black paint
  • Red pompom
  • Red ribbon
  • Bell

Step-by-step:

  1. Fold light brown card in half to create the base of the card.
  2. Draw antlers on the dark brown card.
  3. Supervise children while they cut the antlers out.
  4. Glue the antlers on the card.
  5. Use a compass to draw two circles on white card, then cut them out.
  6. To create the eyes, use black paint to paint two smaller circles in the white circles.
  7. Use craft glue to position a red pompom as your Rudolph nose.
  8. Use craft glue to glue the eyes in place.
  9. Cut a length of red ribbon and pull through a bell, glue both ends of the ribbon in place for Rudolph’s snazzy collar.

What you’ll need:

  • Blue and black card (A4)
  • Sparkly (or regular) white paper
  • Compass
  • Craft glue and glue stick
  • Snowflake confetti
  • Buttons
  • Orange paint
  • Black marker

Step-by-step:

  1. Fold blue card in half to create the base of the card.
  2. Using a compass, draw three equally sized circles onto sparkly white paper and then cut them out.
  3. Using craft glue, position the snowflakes on the card.
  4. Using a glue stick, position your white circles to create the snowman.
  5. Use craft glue to glue two buttons on the middle circle.
  6. Colour an orange triangle to create the snowman’s carrot nose, and glue in place.
  7. Cut out two small black circles and glue in place for the snowman’s eyes.
  8. Using a black marker, draw the snowman's smiley face and stick arms.
  9. Use black card to create a dapper top hat for your snowman. Glue in place on top of his head and you’re done!

What you’ll need:

  • Red, black and white cards (A4)
  • Glue
  • Compass
  • Gold sparkly paper
  • Stencil knife

Step-by-step:

  1. Fold the red card in half to create the base of the card.
  2. Cut a length of white card to form Santa’s shirt.
  3. Glue the white card lengthwise in the centre of the card.
  4. Trace and cut length of black card to form Santa’s belt.
  5. Glue the black belt in place.
  6. Using a compass, trace two circles onto the black card.

  1. Cut out the black circles.
  2. Glue the black circles in the centre of the white strip to form Santa’s buttons.
  3. Trace a square from gold sparkly paper (8x8cm) and cut it out.
  4. Trace a smaller square within the gold square, 1cm less on all sides (6x6cm).
  5. Use a stencil knife to remove the smaller gold square from the larger gold square.
  6. Glue it in the centre of the black belt to create a sparkly gold belt buckle!

What you’ll need:

  • Blue card (A4)
  • Sparkly silver paper
  • Glue
  • Silver ribbon

Step-by-step:

  1. Fold the blue card in half to create the base of the card.
  2. Trace and cut two long rectangular shapes from sparkly silver paper (vertical strip is 21x2cm, horizontal strip is 15x2cm).
  3. Glue both lengths of sparkly silver paper in place (long piece goes vertically, shorter piece horizontally).
  4. Cut another strip of wider silver sparkly paper to create the lid of the present (17x4cm) and glue it in place at the top of the card.
  5. Cut a length of sparkly silver ribbon and tie it into a bow.
  6. Glue the bow in place at top of the card and voila - you’re done!

Christmas Ornaments

Are the kids getting excited to decorate the Christmas tree this year? Then let them add a personal touch by creating these DIY Christmas tree ornaments! Whether they want to add Santa, a snowman, or even another Christmas tree, these decorations are sure to stand out from the rest!

Santa Christmas ornament

What you’ll need:

  • Popsicle sticks
  • Red and black paint
  • Craft glue and glue stick
  • White and red paper
  • White pom pom
  • 3 buttons
  • Cotton wool
  • String

Step-by-step:

  1. Paint 4 popsicle sticks red.
  2. Once dry, glue shorter popsicle sticks onto the back of the 4 red popsicle sticks (this will hold the 4 red popsicle sticks together).
  3. Using a glue stick, glue a small rectangular piece of paper to the top of your red popsicle sticks (to create Santa’s face).
  4. Cut out a red triangular piece of paper, and glue a small white pom pom to the top of it to create his little Santa hat. Glue the hat in place.
  5. Paint a black dot in the centre of some white paper, then cut a circle around the black dot to create the eyes and glue them in place.
  6. Paint a red spot in the centre of Santa’s face for his nose.
  7. Using craft glue, glue 3 buttons in place on his front.
  8. Using cotton wool, glue Santa’s beard in place.
  9. Cut a length of string and glue either end in position on the back of Santa to create a hook so you can hang him on the Christmas tree.

Snowman Christmas ornament

What you’ll need:

  • Popsicle sticks
  • Black and orange paint
  • White paper
  • Blue sparkly paper
  • Glue
  • Black marker
  • Buttons
  • String

Step-by-step:

  1. Paint 4 popsicle sticks white.
  2. Once dry, use shorter popsicle sticks to glue on the back and hold the 4 white popsicle sticks together.
  3. Paint ⅓ sized popsicle stick black. When dry, glue the black popsicle stick on at an angle to create his hat.
  4. Paint the top part of the popsicles black.
  5. Using blue sparkly paper, cut out two thin strips and glue in position to create his scarf.
  6. Paint two black dots in the centre of some white paper, then cut circles around the black dot to create the eyes and glue them in place.
  7. Colour a triangle orange and glue in place to create the snowman’s carrot nose.
  8. Use a black marker to draw the snowman’s smile and glue 2 buttons in place.
  9. Cut a length of string and glue either end in place on the back of the snowman to create a hook so you can hang him on the Christmas tree.

Christmas tree ornament

What you’ll need:

  • Popsicle sticks
  • Blue paint
  • Craft glue
  • Silver sparkly paper
  • Gems
  • String

Step-by-step:

  1. Paint 3 popsicle sticks blue (one stick will be slightly shorter than the other two).
  2. Once dry, use craft glue to glue the sticks together to create a triangle.
  3. Using silver sparkly paper, cut out a square and then glue it at the base of the tree.
  4. Again with the silver sparkly paper, cut out a star-shape and then glue it at the top of the tree.
  5. Using small sparkly gems, glue each in place along the tree.
  6. Cut a length of string, glue either end at the back of the tree and you're done - ready for the real Christmas tree!

Christmas Toilet Paper Roll Crafts

Get into the holiday spirit (if you aren’t already!) by putting on some Christmas tunes and creating these cute and easy-to-make toilet paper roll crafts. With Santa, Mrs Claus, Rudolph and a snowman, your kids can create their very own little Christmas family.

Toilet Paper Roll Snowman

What you’ll need:

  • Toilet paper roll
  • White and orange paint
  • White paper
  • Black marker
  • Glue
  • Blue sparkly paper
  • Buttons

Step-by-step:

  1. Paint toilet paper roll white.
  2. Create eyes by drawing two dots with black marker, cut out circles around the black dots.
  3. Then glue the eyes in place.
  4. Cut a long thin strip of blue sparkly paper and wrap it around the toilet paper roll to create a little scarf.
  5. Glue two buttons in place.
  6. Cut a triangular shape and paint it orange to create a carrot nose. Glue in place and use black marker to draw the mouth. Now your kids can play to their heart’s content or help with decorating the house!

Toilet Paper Roll Reindeer

What you’ll need:

  • Toilet paper roll
  • Brown felt paper
  • Red pom pom
  • White paper
  • Black marker
  • Glue
  • Brown paint
  • Stapler

Step-by-step:

  1. Cut out a length of brown felt paper. Then glue and wrap it around the toilet paper roll.
  2. Glue red pom pom on as the nose.
  3. Create and glue the eyes in place (same method as above).
  4. Create antlers by painting strips of paper brown.
  5. Use a stapler to position the antlers on the reindeer.
  6. Bend the antlers, and now you have your very own Rudolph!

Toilet Paper Roll Mrs Claus

What you’ll need:

  • Toilet paper roll
  • ‘Skin colour’ paint of your choice
  • Sparkly blue paper
  • Red and blue pom pom
  • White paper
  • Black marker
  • Glue
  • 3 buttons
  • Cotton wool

Step-by-step:

  1. Paint ⅓ of the toilet paper roll in a ‘skin colour’ of your choice.
  2. Cut out a length of sparkly blue paper. Then glue and wrap it around the toilet paper roll.
  3. Glue a red pompom on as the nose and glue the eyes in place (same method as above).
  4. Glue 3 buttons onto sparkly blue paper.
  5. Using cotton wool, create Mrs Claus’ hair.
  6. Glue the blue pom pom on top of Mrs Claus’ hair to complete the look!

Toilet Paper Roll Santa

What you’ll need:

  • 2 toilet paper rolls
  • ‘Skin colour’ paint of your choice
  • Red felt paper
  • Red and white pom poms
  • White paper
  • Black marker
  • Glue
  • 2 buttons
  • Cotton wool

Step-by-step:

  1. Paint ⅓ of the toilet paper roll in a ‘skin colour’ of your choice.
  2. Cut out a length of red felt paper. Then glue and wrap it around the toilet paper roll.
  3. Glue a red pompom on as the nose.
  4. Create and glue the eyes in place (same method as above).
  5. Glue two buttons in place.
  6. Use cotton wool to create Santa’s beard.
  7. Glue red felt paper onto a rectangle cut out from another toilet paper roll.
  8. Then bend it into a cone-shape to create the hat, and glue a white pompom on top of it.
  9. Tuck the hat into place on top of the toilet paper roll, and ho ho ho your very own Santa Claus!

Christmas Recipes

Marshmallow Snowman Hot Chocolate Recipe

As the days are colder now, who doesn’t love being snug up inside with a nice cup of hot chocolate? Make your hot chocolate extra delicious by adding this adorable marshmallow snowman. It’s almost too cute to eat...but not quite..!

Ingredients:

  • Marshmallows
  • Decorative icing
  • Smartie
  • Pretzel stick
  • Chocolate powder
  • Milk of your choice
  • Whipped cream

Method:

Marshmallow Snowman:

  1. Place 4 marshmallows on a skewer stick.
  2. Using decorative icing, draw snowman’s facial features and buttons.
  3. Place a Smartie as the nose.
  4. Break a pretzel stick in half and push into the marshmallow to make the arms.

Hot chocolate:

  1. Put 3 teaspoons of chocolate powder in a mug.
  2. Mix with boiling water and add a bit of milk of your choice.
  3. Add whipped cream on top.
  4. Sprinkle chocolate powder on top of the whipped cream.
  5. Add your Marshmallow snowman, sit back, and enjoy!

Fruit & Veg Christmas Tree Recipe

Whether you want to be a little bit healthier this year or you have some vegans in the family, this healthy and tasty Christmas tree is the perfect addition to the Christmas dinner! It’s also a fun way to get the kids involved in the kitchen by letting them arrange the fruit and veggies to create the Christmas tree themselves.

Ingredients:

  • Carrot
  • Pretzel sticks
  • Cucumber
  • Celery
  • Cherry tomatoes
  • Red grapes
  • Dip of your choice

Method:

Remember: Wash all your fruits and vegetables beforehand!

  1. Slice the cucumber and cut in half.
  2. Cut the celery diagonally into small pieces.
  3. Cut 6 diagonal pieces out of the carrot to create a star.
  4. Lay out all the fruits and veggies on a tray to create a Christmas tree.
  5. Use pretzel sticks to create the stem of the tree.
  6. Serve with some dip like hummus and enjoy!
